Dual Motor vs Single Motor
Due to the recent upgrade of all APS-400 Sensors to a Dual Motor configuration (read below) the Media Cartridge has also received an upgrade to support it. Non-updated Media Cartridges are not compatible with Dual Motor sensors. View the images below to tell the difference between the old and updated Media Cartridges.

Dual Motor Upgrade
All APS-400 sensors were recalled (middle/late 2023) to be upgraded from the single motor to the dual motor configuration. To determine if your sensor has the upgraded dual motor configuration, gently rotate the lower tape drive gear by hand (pointed to in the figure below). If the gear does not rotate more than a degree or two, the sensor has been upgraded to the dual motor configuration. If you can freely and continuously spin this gear, then the sensor is the single motor configuration. Please reach out to a Pollen Sense Support team member if your sensor has not yet been updated to the dual motor configuration.
If you have unused Single Motor Media Cartridges, please let our support team know. You will be sent replacement cartridges, or components and instructions to retrofit the current cartridges you posses to become compatible with the Dual Motor configuration.
