Sensor Mounting Instructions

Table of Contents:

Orientation

Proper orientation is essential for accurate sensor performance. Mount the sensor with the antenna and power socket facing downward, and attach it from the back side (opposite the lid). The sensor should be positioned at least 1 meter above the mounting surface to allow for proper airflow.

For a visual reference please see the diagram below.

Note: If you are unable to mount the sensor as described above, please contact support@pollensense.com. With your help, a technician may be able to adjust your sensor to account for the disorientation.

Tripods

Note: light stand or camera tripod adapters are included with the sensor.

Tripods are a very effective mount for the APS400 Sensor. They provide strong stability when properly weighted and allow the sensor to be set up very quickly and easily. Below is a list of tripods we recommend you purchase for deployment of your APS-400 Sensor. The base can be extended out far enough for stability. All have been tested and approved by Pollen Sense. Note: we include a 1/4-20 & 3/8-16 threaded adaptor. When selecting a trip ensure it has a wide base.

Optional Work Site Tripod and Mount

The heavy duty tripod that you would normally see on a job site provides more weight and stability for the sensor. It is more adaptable to uneven surfaces with the ability to extend each leg uniquely. Pollen Sense has created a custom attachment to this tripod for securing the sensor (not included). If you wish to order this custom adapter, please inform your sales representative. Below are a couple heavy-duty tripods that have been tested by our team:

VESA Mounts (TV-Mount)

A VESA mount is a standardized interface for attaching TV’s to wall mounts or stands. The APS-400 Sensor has been designed to accommodate these mounts to give our customers easy access to several different mounting options. Below is a list of VESA mounts that have been tested by our team for deployment of the APS400 Sensor:

Mounting Supplies

Every sensor is shipped with a set of 4 screws, washers, and spacers to go with the attachment plate on the back of the sensor. If the holes on your VESA mount allow the mounting studs on the sensor to pass through, then place the provided spacers around the base of the studs first.

Weather Proof Cord Covers

The power supply that comes with the APS400 Sensor is made to withstand normal to mild weather conditions such as direct sunshine, wind, and moderate rainfall. If you plan to deploy the sensor in an area known for more severe weather conditions, we suggest you purchase a cover for the power cord connections. Below is a list of power cord covers that have been tested and approved by Pollen Sense:

Travel and Storage

If you plan to move your APS-400 sensor frequently, we recommend using a hard case with pluck foam for safe and customizable storage. This allows you to securely fit the sensor and its accessories when traveling.

You may order the custom case below from Pollen Sense by contacting your sales associate. Or below are a couple hard cases tested and approved by Pollen Sense that come with pick & pluck foam:
