Storing Your Sensor

DISCLAIMER: We encourage all of our customers to have their sensors operate year-round as subscriptions are purchased on a yearly basis, and we have noticed that interesting data may arise during “off-season” months of pollen. During the Winter months we offer special deals like supplying the media cartridges for your sensor to run during this time. To find out more about these offers, please contact support@pollensense.com.

We understand that servicing the sensor may require too much effort and it will need to be stored away until the next season. Please follow the instructions below to properly store your sensor.

We do NOT encourage risking the safety of our customers. If servicing the sensor during your region’s “off-season” potentially puts your or others' safety at risk, please do not attempt to have it operate.

Instructions:

  1. Once in the physical proximity of your sensor, open the Particle Sense app and select the ID of the sensor to navigate to its Manage page.

  2. On this page, select “Manage Site” to open its dropdown menu.

  3. Select the “Remove From Site” option. This not only removes the sensor from its Site, but also will prevent our Support team from reaching out to you when it reports as Disconnected on portal.pollensense.com.
Note: Site data will be saved, and you can always reassign the sensor to any previously created Site when it is ready to be redeployed.

  4. Ensure that Collect Samples is toggled to Off.

  5. Unplug the sensor from power, and remove the ethernet cable (if applicable). You must push the silver tab to release the power connector from the sensor, then pull straight down. powerether

  6. Remove the sensor from its post/structure that holds it in place while sampling. Be sure to save any necessary components to be used when redeploying it next season.

  7. Unplug the power supply from its source and gather it with the sensor.

  8. Store the sensor and its power supply in a dry and enclosed space, preferably on a shelf at least 6” above the ground.
