Upgrade your Network Connection

If you’re struggling with Weak Wi-Fi connection to your sensor, you have a couple of options.

Pollen Sense is not able to offer any support for any of the methods provided below. They are merely there to serve as suggestions to boost the signal quality to your sensor

Ethernet (APS-300 & APS-400 Series)

Ethernet connections will always provide the most reliable experience. Low Voltage Electricians can help with installing wiring both indoors and outdoors to reach your sensor installation

High-Gain Antenna (APS-400 only)

Our sensor is only certified to work with the antenna included with the device. A high gain antenna may help improve the reach the sensor has to your Wireless network. Note that any modifications to the device - such as a different antenna - may void your warranty or cause unexpected behavior.

Residential Use (APS-300 & APS-400 Series)

Visit your local Best Buy and ask about mesh Wi-Fi kit options. They also offer installation services. Let them know you have a Wi-Fi device in the yard (or other far away place) that you need to get signal to. Or speak with another Networking professional to discuss your options. To have an ethernet cable run from your router to the outside, you will generally want to get in contact with a low voltage electrician.

Business Use (APS-300 & APS-400 Series)

Speak with your IT department or IT contractors about options. Some mesh kits are advertised for small business use and you may also be able to receive help from your local Best Buy or computer retailer.

Cellular (APS-300 & APS-400 Series)

There are a number of cellular hotspots that you can purchase online at retailers such as Amazon that are rated for outdoor use if you follow the manufacturer’s guidelines. Some of these may work out of the box with a SIM card from your cell carrier, though we recommend consulting with a representative from your cell carrier before purchasing one. Our recommendation is to use an ethernet connection between the hotspot and your Sensor where possible. Visit your local cell carrier to discuss your options. Note that a minimum 33GB plan is recommended.
